It was finally autumn at Hogwarts and, while Eden was always super enthusiastic for summer, -- Hello, it was the best weather to skateboard in and no school! -- she did enjoy jumping into huge piles of leaves and the way everything was always overcast and the best holiday was just around the corner and SWEATER WEATHER!

So naturally the blonde couldn't be expected to stay inside any more than she had to, especially not studying like so many people seemed to be doing, and had made plans to meet her best besticle out on the grounds near the lake. It seemed like the best place to enjoy the weather and there were some scattered trees to climb that wouldn't draw them in too close to the forest.

And that was just what Eden proceeded to do while she waited for her best friend to show up. Grabbing onto the lowest branch, ignoring anyone around her who she might be disturbing, the badger pulled her legs up to wrap around it and deftly maneuvered to sit on aforementioned branch. Tree climbing wasn't quite as exhilarating as skateboard, she figured, but grass just didn't work well under her wheels.

"Everyone best stay out of my tree--" she commanded from the low branch before reaching out for the trunk and standing, balancing herself with practice, before toeing higher into the changing leaves. "--or I will push you myself." There. Always best to end with a threat lest someone thing they could challenge her authority. ...because Eden didn't really have any authority.

Before the school year had ended, Alyson Olivier wasn't the type of person that inherently stood out at Hogwarts. There were, sometimes, rumblings throughout the Gryffindor commons about how she would wake up in the middle of the night and scream, or that sweat would be dripping down her skin. That was Alyson Olivier was known for among her peers - the weird girl with the sleeping issues. The one that was always ready with an answer during Care of Magical Creatures class. The one that always seemed to have a song on her tongue.

Sometimes, she was the little sister of that eccentric Ravenclaw. Alyson was, by no means, a popular child at Hogwarts - or even at home. But that was fine. She had her friends here and there, the ones that she kept close. There were more at home than there were here, but there were still plenty here; ones that were more than willing to drag her into trouble or into more or less anything that they could think of. In fact, that was one of them in particular. They were pratically inseparable, the pair of Alyson Olivier and Eden Leavold.

That happened to mean that when Eden got into trouble, or started to cause trouble, Alyson was right there - either trying to get her to stop or going right along with her. Alyson, for her part, wasn't entirely sure which she preferred more. Certainly, she needed to get her studying in so that she continued to maintain her (mostly) good grades, but... All work and no play makes Aly a dull girl. That was definitely why she had agreed to meet her out by the lake.

She couldn't stifle the laugh that came when she got close enough to hear Eden declare a particular tree her own, and she shook her head. "What are you trying to do? Scare some first years? That's all that you're going to accomplish, you know." Her hair pulled back into a loose, high ponytail, Alyson approached the tree and placed her hand upon it gingerly. "And, with your luck, you'll end up falling."

@Lucero @Taggerung

Feeling sufficiently like an idiotic sloth, Eden dangling by her hands from the next branch up before using what strength she had to repeat the first effort - lifting her bottom half so she could wrap both legs around the branch and squirm higher. There was probably a much easier, practical method of climbing the tree, but perhaps Eden just had family history with sloths and she was summoning that untouched ancestry that afternoon...

The voice that interrupted her focus was a welcome one, however, and the small girl released the branch with one arm to flip her mane of hair out of her face in order to peer down through the colored leaves. "Aly!" Her voice was a strained chirp as she finally pulled herself onto the branch and stopped using her lack of muscles to hang. Much better, much easier to pay attention to Aly below her. And also give Eden time to spy the colorful skirt her friend was wearing, which was certainly not tree-climbing material!

... ah well, the students around them would just have to see Aly's knickers!

Now what was her bestie going on about? Scaring first years? Alyson said the words as if it were shameful to scare first years. The accusation that she'd fall, however, had Eden gasping in mock offense. She, fall? She, the queen of balance? Blasphemous! "SHADDUP," she shouted down, "AND GET IN THE TREE, OLIVIER!" Yeee-up, skirt and all!

A quiet day. A quiet hour. Just a simple quiet moment for someone to actually sit down and get some studying done, some homework. Something, anything. Peace and quiet were key to a good study session. Was that really too much to ask of the world?
Yes. Apparently yes it was. Especially at Hogwarts, in the middle of a nice fall day. Classes hadn’t been going on for too long, the homework load really wasn’t up to its peak yet. Why would most of the students there even think to be studying for something that wouldn’t even matter until near the end of the year anyway?

Brad’s grip on his quill tightened as he heard the sounds of footsteps nearby. But he resolved to ignore them, even as they got closer. One would think that with the weather getting colder people would stay away from the lake, even the line of scattered trees nearby. Besides, even if this person did get closer, there were plenty of other trees to sit by and do… whatever it was that they were here to do. Quietly.
His gaze fell harder onto the piece of parchment he was studying from, lines of tiny scrawl scribbled into margins and corners – notes from a piece of homework he’d gotten back graded, so he could figure out how he had done wrong on it. His quill scratched at the parchment a while more, before the tree that he was sitting against began to shake around gently. Head turning sharply, he scowled around to find no one there.

Shifting himself as the tree shook again, he glanced upwards to see the small blonde girl shimmying her way into the steadier branches until she paused, finding her feet at last. His frown deepened as she opened her mouth to squawl. Groaning, he went back to his work before she even finished her ridiculous speech. At least, until he heard more steady footsteps coming.
Looking up from his work again, he saw yet another female coming to join in the first. Probably to start clawing up the tree and squawking like some small barbarian too. Instead of sitting with the noise, Bradley began to pack up his things, placing them carefully into his bag, before standing up. Hesitating for a moment, he glanced between the school and the girls now in conversation. A part of him wanted to yell at them for disturbing him, but at the same time it wasn’t as if they were really doing anything wrong.

But he was a Slytherin, and hissing is what he was supposed to do, right?

Squaring his shoulders, Brad stepped around his tree to confront the two girls, a scowl set firmly on his face. “H-Hey, you two. Could you not? Next time, I dunno… Look around and see who you’re disturbing before you go shouting like a couple of idiots in the woods?” he called out, watching them, half hoping that they would either not hear him or ignore him. What was he doing, confronting them like this!?

She should have expected Eden's response, of course; the two girls knew each other for a long enough time that what the other girl said should have appeared inevitable. She took a deep breath, exhaling it in the next motion and then sizing up the tree - how much would the brunette have to climb? And not only that, but she would have to be careful. One would think that she'd have learned by now not to wear skirts at Hogwarts, because who knew what kind of trouble Eden would be getting them into?

And don't be mistaken, there was always going to be something that Eden Leavold got them into, which was potentially unfortunate - or maybe it was fortuitous? How Aly felt depended on things being in the moment, such as today, where she was regretting both wearing the skirt that she had chosen and coming out to meet Eden. Only a touch, though, because even if she didn't want to the chances were that she would find herself bored enough to meet with her. That was what history had proven, after all.

She pouted, and gripped onto the tree; it took her a moment to get a hold on her balance, but she did, and she leaned up against one of the thicker appendages of the tree while looking at her friend with a look that said 'why do you do this?' She loved Eden, but the girl was always, always getting into something. And in turn, getting Alyson into something. She needn't have been surprised, and really, she wasn't all that surprised.

"Oh!" She exclaimed, though, when she heard the sounds of another person call up to them. A boy, their age, if she had to guess by hearing and looking at him. She narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms, looking away for a moment before looking back at the Slytherin that sat as though he were nested beneath the tree. She was thinking of what to say, but she woul have to be quick if she were going to say anything before Eden did, and it was probably best that she did.

"Why are you studying in the woods, anyway? You'd think that would be distracting enough. Why not do it in the library, or in the commons?" She questioned, but not mockingly - she was genuinely curious as to the methods of this strange Slytherin boy. She looked over to Eden, anticipating some sort of smart remark as a comeback, not aware that the two were familiar with one another already.

Leaning precariously backwards on her branch, hands gripping the rough texture on either side of her hips for balance, the young blonde grinned wickedly as her friend began her ascent. It only ever took a little coaxing, a little hinting -- er, okay, so it took yelling, but Eden wasn't yelling at Alykins so much as yelling to her. Eden would never yell at the girl. She would, however, yell at the yeast-y beasty at the base of the tree that had seemed to ferment, or whatever, into being breadish enough to tell the two ladies off. OH-HO, NOT TODAY, MISTER.

Swinging her leg over the branch so she could straddle it, Eden shimmied along (effectively mussing up the crotch of her jeans, most assuredly) until she could spot the boy well enough. Lucky for Brad, Alyson managed to have the first word, momentarily rendering Eden to being her cheerleader and the girl offered a resounding, albeit not quite witty, "Yeah!"

Even though Aly's words were not callous nor biting, Eden felt they said mostly what she had intended. It was a bit short on insults, like 'idiot' and 'creepy creep lurking in the woods peeking up girl's skirts', but it would do.

However, when her best friend's eyes sought out her own, the badger had to wonder if she wanted Eden to insult the boy. Well, she'd happily oblige!

"And how dare you bring a book to the woods, Bread!" Her words seemed to rouse the leaves around her as she stood on her branch, reaching to another near her head for balance, wanting to feel tall and imposing and one with the tree! "Books come from trees, you know? Why, it's practically cannibalism! You could be waggling around the child of one of these trees, did you ever think about that? No, you didn't!"

There was a brief pause where Eden adjusted herself and waddled a bit further along her branch, hands still above her for precarious balance, before she tacked on her last bit. "And stop looking up Aly's skirt!"
