We Are Royal is a member-driven Harry Potter roleplay that strives to create an environment rich in character development and community without a restricting plot or binding expectations. While War identifies as a Harry Potter roleplay it is so much more than that, offering a unique experience in the Wizarding World we've all come to know and love. Though canon is acknowledged up to the Battle at Hogwarts not a single canon from the books are currently present, we've simply removed all traces of them in order to provide room for original characters and original canon. It was a shame that Callisto hadn't been let out the castle for this Halloween, she had rather wanted to go to that gala that was going on at that wizarding family's home -- 'cause she clearly knew them so well. All the same, this meant that she definitely got Christmas away from the castle, at least for the first week, and so she had that to look forward to.

For tonight however, what Callisto had to look forward to was a night of dull and dreary fun, chaperoning kids and making sure - what, that they didn't snog each others faces off? That was all that they seemed to be at risk of doing tonight, there were hardly any real troublemakers that she had yet to see. Then again her experience of Hogwarts was overshadowed by her epic seventh year, which made it hard to remember that she hadn't exactly always been devil incarnate whilst she was at school.

"Stop dancing too close before I make it painful for you to touch each other the entire night!" Callisto bellowed out to no one in particular. She was sure there was a pair of students somewhere in the hall dancing too close, and now she looked like she was doing her job - bonus!

However as the night got on, Callisto found herself feeling increasingly more... bored. It was about 3 hours before the dance was supposed to finish when the brunette decided she needed to do something before she literally started crying. The Slytherin Head of House glanced down at her clutch, a knowing smirk appearing on her lips. The rest of the hall might not have noticed but she had been taking the occasional sip from her purse, because there was a specially concealed opening in it from which the top of her flask peeked out. If she went over to the punch bowl, she was just a teacher inspecting the punch. It was probably going to be the student who went over after her who would get blamed for anything that followed.

So under the guise of going over to inspect the bowl and pour herself some punch, the tall ex-Slytherin expertly wrapped her clutch - flask side down - over her cup. Then she hovered her cup over the punch bowl, close enough that you couldn't see anything unless you were really looking, and started to ladle herself out some punch, whilst the pinky finger on her cup holding hand popped the flask open and let the rest of the contents flow out into the punch bowl.

By the time Callisto had filled her cup, her flask had been emptied. Placing the ladle down, the brunette discretely closed the cap of her flask and turned out to face the dancefloor again, shuffling away from the punch bowl as some students came to serve themselves.

The sound of the horrible music pulsed through the dance as Benjamin stood to the side of the party, occasionally lifting his gaze from a parchment in his hand before looking back and reading it again. It was a letter from his Grandma Francis and a light smile played on his bearded slips as he read through. For the past two years, he hadn’t seen his Grandma ever since he bought his own place to stay. And he’d always plan to go and see her but something would get in his way. So when the two of them realized that he couldn’t always visit, Francis had decided she would send a letter to Benjy, once or twice a week, and tell him of her day and how she was. And later on he’d send her a letter back. This particular letter told of Grandma Francis and her ongoing war with a group of delinquent kids. She told him how the “three spawn of Satan himself” would teepee her house and play tricks on her in the middle of the night. Then again, this was Grandma Francis, so she also told him how she “fixed” one of the kid’s ears to their rightful, rat filled glory, and how another kid would be walking around like he had a wand up his ass for weeks. It was amusing to read her little adventures without him, but it also made him sad. It felt so long ago since he had been in that home, living with his Grandma, and he missed the good old days. Even if a lot of those ‘good memories’ involved him getting a good punishment after, they were amongst his best memories. Sometimes he wished he could be a kid again and just live with his Grandma again. But that did seem slightly childish …His head snapped up as Callisto’s voice boomed through the hall, commanding kids not to dance too close. A loud booming laugh escaped him as he grinned at the kids on the dance floor. Callisto and Benjamin had been watching the little rascals for a while, and there was still three more hours to go. As he looked over at his fellow teacher, he knew she dreaded the thought of staying here that long. She looked bored. Though, not for long as he noticed how she moved towards the punch bowl and was probably doing something with its contents. As she walked away from it, he pushed himself off the wall and made his way towards the bowl, pulling out his wand and trying to hide it with his suit jacket. As he approached the bowl, he aimed the tip at its contents and muttered something under his breath.Callisto was standing there casually, as if she hadn’t done anything so he made his way towards her, the grin still plastered on his face. Though as he approached, he simply stood by her and looked in an opposite direction so that it seemed they were still doing their job. But close to her ear, he muttered. ”Saw what you did Calli.” He said with amusement in his voice. ”But we’re teachers, we have to be the responsible adults here.” This time with a tone of disappointment, but the disappointment was sarcastic as he gazed over at the bowl. ”But the real reason I’m a little disappointed,” He said as he watched one of the kids take a sip from the punch bowl. And at first, the kid seemed perfectly fine but the next second, his ears sprouted into rat ears and he was freaking out, all the kids around him snickering. Benjamin smiled and finished his sentence. ”Is that you didn’t think outside the box.” He had to give props to Grandma Francis, she knew the most amusing things to do to people.

Benjy had always been a bit too... hairy for Callisto to take any proper note of him. It wasn't that Callisto could never be interested in a man with hair, just that whenever she was it was usually for reasons other than personality or looks. It was probably for this reason that Callisto was off causing mischief that night instead of being a good little chaperone and talking with her other fellow chaperone. She wasn't even taking note of his booming laugh at her attempts to look responsible, nor noticing that he had been watching her at the punch bowl. No, the tall brunette did not take note of her fellow prison mate for the evening until he had sneaked up on her and dared to use her nickname.

Eyes immediately narrowed in the direction of the Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. Last Callisto checked, she only gave Conor permission to use that nickname, and so the ex-Slytherin geared herself up to give her work colleague a good telling off for using it without permission, except he distracted her with his knowledge of what she'd done with the punch bowl. "I'm being responsible!" the brunette protested, feigning mock offense at the suggestion she wasn't a responsible adult. "I'm sober, I'm like ... designated driver, or whatever." she whispered, hoping the drunken antics would begin soon so she'd have something better to do than tell students off for dancing too close.

Of course, the drunkenness wasn't going to settle in for a while, and as Benjy spoke on, Callisto failed to realise that he too had done something - that is until a boy sprouted rat ears. For a moment, Callisto looked somewhat impressed, nodding her head in approval even as the boy began to freak out and the crowd around him cackled in amusement. "I wouldn't call that outside the box, myself." the brunette said eventually, in contradiction to her earlier expression. "Now the kids are going to stay away from that punch bowl and not get drunk, you know what that means?" she asked, turning to meet Benjy's eyes. "It means we don't get to see what ingenious embarrassment they come up with for themselves under the influence of alcohol. It means we continue to spend the night bored - because your trick was obvious, and mine was subtle." And that was the truth even if the spell the Professor had cast was long-lasting and had a variety of results. The only way Callisto was going to get her amusement now, was if there was some mean-spirited students in the crowd that night. Her fingers were crossed tightly in the hopes that that was the case.

"What house were you in again, during your days at Hogwarts?" the brunette asked, a rather patronising tone dripping through the question as she remained satisfied that her prank had been far more superior still. She wasn't an ex-Slytherin for no reason after all. "And please tell me that spell will wear off before the entire hall knows there's something wrong with that punch."

Benjamin could tell from her look that she didn’t appreciate the nickname he said. And even though he and Callisto weren’t exactly close, he knew she’d get mad at him saying it. It was just fun to tease people. Though he could see she swallowed down her venom as he mentioned them having to be responsible adults, and she started defending herself. He smiled as she used the term “designated driver” to explain her soberness. ”You might be sober right now, but you’re drunk with boredom aren’t you?” He asked, smiling while he was at it. Sure the Professors at Hogwarts could watch a bunch of kids at a party, but after watching them for basically the entire year? They needed to have some sort of pleasure. And it seemed that that pleasure came in the form of teasing the needy little rascals around the castle. When his little surprise kicked in, instead of Callisto laughing or not having an expression at all, she nodded with impressment. And honestly with Callisto, that was a good sign. Though she quickly explained that with his plan, it wasn’t thinking outside the box. Turning to look at her as she did, he listened as she explained. He realized now as she finished maybe she did have the smarter plan. Putting his hands up in defeat, he smiled down at her. ”You win Mistress of Mischief.” He said with a smirk playing on his lips. ”But there is a lot more we can do to mess with the kids.” He said, looking around and grinning wildly. People tended to either get thrown off, or feel comfortable around Benjamin for his constant grins. It wasn’t exactly that he was always happy or always optimistic but he believed that it was a lot better to smile than frown. It showed people confidence, that nothing was wrong. So as he looked down, he continued to grin still, now baring his teeth. ”What can we do in three hours?” He asked with amusement.Though when she asked what house he had been in before Hogwarts, his grin faltered for a moment before he simply smiled again. It wasn’t that he didn’t feel confident in the house he had been in or anything but he was certain, if he could recall that Callisto had been in Slytherin. And Slytherin’s tended to look down on ”Hufflepuff.” He said it in a sort of firm but quiet tone, as if no one should hear it. Maybe she wouldn’t be “racist” to it this way. But on the question of the punch bowl spell wearing off, Benjy looked over at the bowl, and then gave her a look of confusion. ”Honestly,” He said, facing away from the bowl. ”Not really sure.” He grinned.
